On behalf of the 2014 Alberta Winter Games committee, thank you for interest in volunteering! The Games will require approximately 2200 volunteers to host a successful Games.

We are extremely excited and proud to be given the opportunity to host the approximately 3000 participants (athletes, coaches, managers and officials) that have come from across the province to compete in 22 different sporting events. FREE PUBLIC SHUTTLE FROM CANMORE
Canmore-based spectators are invited to ride the free shuttle buses to and from Banff. Park the vehicle – the hardest walk in Banff is finding the parking lot. Go to www.RoamTransit.com for information on the shuttle bus location and departure schedule.

Before 6:30pm drop by the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies for a free pre-Opening Ceremonies reception and viewing of the Museum’s “Through the Lens” youth photography exhibit. The Museum is located one block off of Banff Avenue at 111 Bear Street. www.whyte.org
Volunteers assigned to security, athlete village supervision, photography are required to implement a volunteer security check. To acquire a police records check, please take the attached letter to your local RCMP detachment.
At least two key people to assist with attaining providers, venue coordination, volunteer coordination, communication with Alberta Health Services, connecting food services with the other Alberta Games Portfolio.
Establish a Games warehouse; develop an inventory control system and procedures to track Games equipment, supplies and Portable equipment; arrange transportation of Games equipment; coordinate distribution of equipment, supplies, and portable facilities required for the games; ensure all borrowed equipment is returned.
At several schools in particular.
Banff Food Services Liaison
Determine facilities, equipment, and supplies required in Banff and arrange to obtain; liaise with other committees and outside groups as required.
Canteen and Concessions Chair
Provide food services to the Games participants; provide concession services at the games venues for spectators and participants; provide refreshments and snacks for volunteers at the Games venues; attend meetings.
Bag Lunch Program Chair
The bag lunch chair will prepare and distribute box lunches for the Games participant; coordinate refreshments/snacks/lunches to related games groups; determine facilities, equipment and supplies required and arrange to obtain; produce a budget; etc.
